Medicare 1-800 number
Medicare – is one of the federal health insurance programs for the older population (over 65 years) established in 1965 in the US. Since 1972, the program also caters for the disabled. It consists of two main parts:
Part A: Hospital insurance: payment of hospital services, certain forms of home care.
Part B. Supplementary health insurance: payment of physician visits, outpatient services and independent laboratory services.
Unlike compulsory hospital insurance supplementary insurance is a voluntary. In 2002, 34.6 million pensioners and 6 million people with disabilities were assisted in part A of the program and the same amount for part B.
Medical care in the United States one of the most expensive in the world, so the program “Medicare” is not able to cover 100% of the cost of medical services. In particular, it is not fully paid for a long stay in hospital, not covered dental services, production of glasses.
President Barack Obama has initiated a large-scale health care reform in the United States, aimed at the growth of the population of insurance coverage and the reduction of the budget deficit.
